Thank you John, once again you have fed my soul. That is what makes me a better person, better equipped to meet adversity and handle it well. It is the tool box for fixing life, leading others, adding value as I go through my day. When my soul is fed I can conquer my fears. Thank you!

Thank you, John, for giving us needed steps to guide our organizations and churches through during this time of crisis. It is definitely a challenge to lead through this and to daily adapt as we learn more facts and gather more information. Obviously, all of us have had to embrace technology for every purpose of our organization, including communication and leadership development. I’ve found it challenging to connect through Zoom, FaceTime and Skype because, as we all know and as John said, “it’s not the same.” So rather than focus on what we cannot change, we need to embrace the challenges for what they are and continue to use the technology that we have to connect with the leaders we are trying to develop through the mediums we have available.

John has always talked about the great “mo” (motivation) and how critical it is to staying on mission and keeping forward progress going. He talks about “failing forward” and not allowing mistakes and failures to get us off mission. I’m finding it challenging to not allow the distractions and hardships to totally redirect our church, and especially our leadership development plans, off of the purposes that we have. I’m trying to continue to develop our leaders and work on more long-term development, yet we are forced to be focusing most of our effort on what’s going on right now. The leaders that we are working on developing are consumed with today’s events and not seeing the bright future that John talked about in this video.

How would you envision that occurring? How do we allow our folks to work through the issues at hand with the virus while at the same time keeping momentum going in developing our next generation of leaders?

Since I am a Pastor and a person of faith, I’m concentrating my energy on the apostle Paul’s writing in Romans 5:3-4 which says, “And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope.” The troubles of this present time are producing in us, as leaders, the ability to persevere through it, developing in us a new character traits and that is giving us hope for a much greater future ahead.

    Powerful as always.

I am always taken aback by how humble John Maxwell is.

For me, the biggest take-away in this session is understanding context (awareness, anticipation, agility) and creative thinking (strong conviction that there is always an answer).

    Fantastic perspective as always, John!
I will be sharing these points with my sphere of influence. Holy Spirit inspired me to share the same notion of choice in the middle of stress, bitter or better? I looked you up today to see what you had to say regarding Covid-19, I can always trust that you will lead with a sensible, God-centered perspective.

    Nice points as always!
Leaders nowadays are becoming great but some of them are losing the ability to pass their strategies/learnings with their employees/subordinates. It’s important to realize the benefits of learning and development in a corporate setup. Digitization has disrupted the old fashioned way of training but it also speeds up the process and improves the effectiveness when implemented properly.
